Upcycling in the fashion industry?

Why is recycling and up-cycling important in the fashion industry?
This brings up the question why is recycling so important in the world.
After some research I discovered some tragic stories such as the poor factory conditions that put workers lives in danger.
I discovered the sad truth of children working. And the unfortunate truth about the low wages and living conditions workers receive after working extremely long hours.
And the scary truth about they may be poisons and toxins in the clothes that we wear.

so statistically a average American throws away 70 pounds of clothing each year, with most of it ends up in landfills, were the workers have to endure hazardous chemicals,
which can cause skin and lung irritations.their are 10 toxic gases that are released into the landfills, that studies have linked with cancer.the most serious of which is methane.
it is also a tragedy when we look at the environmental waste that ruins the environmental landscape and clean air of the land.
millions of tons of unused fabric at china mills go to waste each year when dyed the wrong colour.
we rarely think about the effect are clothes may have on us and the workers that made it!
their is also a serious problem of the chemicals in the textiles that still have not been fully researched into the future affects on the consumer wearing it.

many toxic chemicals are added in the process of textile making, including formaldehde, ammonia, heavy matals, flame retardants to name a few. and due to differing international regulations, for the global clothing brands, this results in the safe standards being often ignored and the use of phthalates, and nonylphenol ethoxlates, with can be hazardous for the workers and the consumers.
for example garments which are treated with chemical compunds before and after manufacturing can transfer poison's toxins onto the skin.
air and water, and soil gets consumed by pollution, as the textile process use chemicals and toxics that are very hard to degrade, such as formaldehyde-coated nylon that can take up to 40 years to decompose.
it takes one pound of raw cotton to make one T-shirt,

the american academy of dermatology estimates that 10 to 20 percent of children and 1 to 3 percent of adults experience eczema from textile chemicals.
their is no need to produce more textiles which release dangerous chemicals into the environment when so many textiles are being destroyed or duped into already crowded landfills.
for example rayon material uses a lot of energy and uses poisonousness chemicals that are released into the air.
material that is stain or wrinkle resistant also releases toxin in the air.
synthetic fabric manufacturing uses large amounts of energy and crude oil, using up the already over used energy,
also the production of non-organic cotton, is grown with strong pesticide use, which run off contaminates the water.
recycled and rewoven fabrics and organic cotton wool or silk, and also fabrics that are natrauly dyed.
are the most environmentally friendly materials you can use which reduced health and safety risks to the consumer and the workers also to the environment, an average t-shirt to reproduce and make uses 200 tons of water,  plus many hazardous materials are used and added to the t-shirt, according to Brian R. Clement PhD founder of the Hippocrates health institute, quoted that their has not been enough adequate testing to determine whether the fabric additives such as metals and insecticides are safe to be in constant contact with human skin.
the textile industry discharges about 300.600 tons of COD and contributes to 8.2 percent of COD pollution in china.

over 80 billion new garments are proceed every year yet their are so  many clothes being destroyed fore petty reasons such as it being dyed the wrong colour or it being out of season, also 80% goes to landfills.

in the us alone over 12 million tonnes of textiles are trashed each year, ever growing to the already filled up land fills, that destroys its natural environment.
according to www.ecofashiontalk.com manufactures and designers in the mainstream fashion industry discard on average 15% of materials on the route to production.

up-cycling can be so beneficial for the environment and for the health and well-being of workers and consumers,  up-cycling can be done from pre consumer waste such as fabric scraps and samples, and also post consumer waste, such as a garment that is no loner wanted.

The greater thing about up-cycling products as well as creating a healthier environment, is the fact you can make the new product better than it looked originally.
creating so many possibility's.
massive amounts of clothes that are donated to charity shops are shipped to developing country to add to their increasing high landfill problems.
more textiles are proceed every day, many large clothing chains producing as many as half a billion garments per year, about 14.3 million tons of textiles were sent to the landfill in 2012,
their is more textiles being produced, the actually being beneficially used.
recycling can be done using post and pre-consumer waste,

Theirs two different ways of recycling clothes one from post consumer waste, such as scrap fabrics and fabrics being disposed of during construction, and post consumer waste which consumes of clothing that consumers no longer wear and is discarded.

Luckily fashion companies and designers are becoming more conscious in realising the negative effects of not recycling,
companies such as,

 TRMTAB,
This company uses pre-consumer waste it utilizes leather scraps, from factories around the world.to create quality leather goods.
eash production cycle produces 4,000 pounds of waste each year, which most is transported to landfills

I will like to make my loved ones Christmas presents with their name personalised on textiles. This picture is a work in progress I will update when finished.  But im practising learning to write chinese style. :)

Eco Dyeing

Eco-friendly dying using green tea. The Headlines from https://djcadchina.wordpress.com/2012/02/20/made-in-china-environmental-impact-of-the-textile-industry-in-china/ reads; "Made In China. Environmental Impact of the Textile Industry in China. " "One of the countries greatest environmental challenges is water pollution. The World Health Organisation estimates that polluted water causes 75 percent of diseases in China." The http://www.biovistawaters.com/news-events/textile-industry-impact-waste-water-are-we-doing-enough reads: "Industrialization of the textile industry and use of a large variety of chemical treatments and dyes has resulted in a public health threat created by pollution. 17 -20% of industrial freshwater pollution is caused by textile dyeing and treatment. Estimations state that 10-15% of total dyestuffs (equivalent to 280,000 tonnes of dyestuffs) used during the manufacturing of textile products is released
