The Future of Fashion.

The Future of Fashion

My fashion tutor showed us, and let us ask the question why and to research further into the answer and solutions to what the future of fashion holds,In one hand I wanted to be positive and optimistic about the fashion worlds future, but being forced to look at reality and statistics and the resilience towards major stakeholders refusing important fundamental changes,I am of another future that is not so pretty unless, the major stakeholders and governments, involves complies with positive action and changes,For too long there have been a negligence in workers’ rights, toxic chemical ingestion, environmental health factors, animal rights  just to mention a few, and because of rights and regulations not being set around the world is the main reason why we have failed and neglected and even refused to see the negative impact the capitalist world can cause,I respect the fact that there have been major conferences with stakeholders but I am afraid with sustainable fashion be sustainable for the future?

So I researched further to find out what the future prospects looks like for the fashion world, and the future doesn't look to bad with the research and the new inventions technology is bringing in.
For example there is research undergoing bringing up the possibilities of replacing one of the most popular fabric source cotton, which has brought up serious health and workers’ rights concerns,
and replacing this with growing and replacing fabric with material made out of fruit

Of banana and pineapple and coconut, could be a new way of reducing the ever growing and problematic cotton plantation.
The material can give a similar appearance to canvas, one artist Erin smith made her wedding dress out of fungus,

She grew it herself in only six days, the artist did not end up wearing the wedding dress but constructed it as an art piece,
Reminding us that sustainable fashion and alternatives is possible,
She received the materials from, www.ecovativedesign.com
Who claims to be the world leading biomaterial company? Not only replacing fashion with more sustainable fashion bit also, for plywood and fibreboard, that are known for causing harmful resins.
The material were used out of environmental waste materials, she used tree mulch mixed with mushrooms to make spores to grow mycelium
The other factor that is set to change the future of fashion is 3d printing,

Latest collection by Iris van Herpen shows that new 3D-printing technology is heading for the catwalk, and eventually the high street

The first time I used 3D printing, it completely changed my thinking. It freed me from all physical limitations. Suddenly, every complex structure was possible and I could create more detail than I ever could by hand”-Iris van Herpen

The top set was assembled from 2 pieces, and the skirt consists of 15 3D printed pieces, it was developed by a Chinese company called Unique Technology, the company that created the multi-material 3D bio printer.

3d printing is estimated to be worth 31billion dollars by 2016 and 5.2 billion dollars by 2020,

This technology gives a change for people to be their own factory,

similar to how now we can have our own music studio in the

comfort of our own homes, 3d printing is looking to change to way

we make and create making it easier for people to create, cutting

out the middle man such as factory’s will reduce the amount of

sweat shop workers that are need to construct 3d garments as a trade.

Fast Fashion may become even faster  fashion, with fashion week considering to be shown 52 weeks per year, but digitally streaming shows, similarly how the news broadcasts news around the clock.

Also smart fabric is on the cards for future fashion with technology increasing, the need for smarter fabric similarly to how smart phones are growing in popularity, smart fabric aims to give their consumers active and accrete information, for example such as a smart which can count calories and steps smart fabric is planned to be accrete.

Computerized Smart Fabrics Can Charge Your Phone

In my ideal world I hope that less material will go into landfills and be turned and up-cycled into something unique and fabulous.

Environmental Impact of the Textile Industry in China. " "One of the countries greatest environmental challenges is water pollution. The World Health Organisation estimates that polluted water causes 75 percent of diseases in China." The http://www.biovistawaters.com/news-events/textile-industry-impact-waste-water-are-we-doing-enough reads: "Industrialization of the textile industry and use of a large variety of chemical treatments and dyes has resulted in a public health threat created by pollution. 17 -20% of industrial freshwater pollution is caused by textile dyeing and treatment. Estimations state that 10-15% of total dyestuffs (equivalent to 280,000 tonnes of dyestuffs) used during the manufacturing of textile products is released
